Secretary (Camp Administrator's Secretary)

The Camp Administrator's Secretary serves as a member of the camp staff and is responsible for all clerical and administrative support duties necessary for the Camp to function as a satellite facility of a Federal Bureau of Prisons/correctional institution. In addition to providing administrative and clerical functions to the Camp Administrator, on occasion, the incumbent will provide limited secretarial services for the Warden, Associate Warden(s) and/or the Executive Assistant. The camp functions independently of the main institution for Food Service operations, routine medical treatment, recreation and education programs, commissary operations, etc. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staffs correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis. Education As a general rule, education is not creditable above GL-05 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. NOTE:

Recognition of Foreign Qualifications Experience One year of progressively responsible specialized experience that equips you with the qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lowest level in federal service. Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
GL-07:
Experience reviewing incoming correspondence and reports and routing to the appropriate staff member or supervisor for action. Reviewing outgoing correspondence and reports for content, grammatical accuracy and conformance to established standards. Experience screening and referring telephone calls and visitors to staff members or supervisors, scheduling appointments and making commitments for supervisor, making travel and conference arrangements. Experience responding to fluctuating workloads and advising individuals on clerical and administrative procedures. Experience handling requests for information and resolving problems, meeting and dealing with all levels of government, private sector and/or the public. Credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
